First things first, before you start creating wonderful memories and before you spend your first night in your camper. Even if it’s just in your driveway. There is something that needs to be addressed and that is safety.
No matter how big or small your campervan, RV or trailer is, whether it’s a classic VW or a modern class C with all the mod-cons. The first thing you must install is a CO detector/alarm. The one that I use can detect not only carbon monoxide but also explosive gasses, such as propane.

This cheap compact gadget could save your life and is something that most overlook. CO levels can rise rapidly in a small space for a number of reasons, especially if it is not ventilated correctly.
-You may have the vents closed because it’s cold outside and you are trying to keep the heat in.
-cooker hob not burning correctly.
-fault in the auxiliary heater.
-or even your own breathing can cause the levels to rise.
These little gadgets are your guardian angle against something you can’t see. Giving you a pre-warning, so you can act accordingly and sounding an alarm to wake you if levels do rise dangerously.
You will probably never hear it go off and I hope this to be true. It’s comforting to know you are safe and ready to make great memories.
